In a resounding return to the stage after a long hiatus, The Cure graced fans with a mesmerising live performance that exceeded all expectations. Lead vocalist Robert Smith's vocal prowess and onstage energy captivated the audience from the moment the band took the spotlight. This momentous event came on the heels of Smith's fervent campaign against exorbitant ticket prices and the exploitative practices of Ticketmaster, resulting in significant ticket refunds to rectify the situation.

A Night to Remember in New Orleans' Smoothie King Center

At the New Orleans' Smoothie King Center, The Cure unleashed an unforgettable night of music that resonated deeply with fans who had eagerly awaited this moment. The band's extensive 29-song setlist not only showcased their greatest hits and revived rare deep cuts that had remained dormant since the late 80s. Additionally, the concert featured the thrilling debut of four brand-new songs from their upcoming album “Alone”, new songs include “Alone”, “Nothing Is Forever”, “A Fragile Thing” and “I Can Never Say Goodbye.”

I would like to emphasise the remarkable quality of Robert's voice and the enduring appeal of these songs. During the performance, the iconic track 'Close To Me' was performed and even though I’m experiencing it through a YouTube video, it still resonates greatly with me, as it has always been one of my cherished Cure songs. Hearing Robert Smith, now 64 years old, deliver the song flawlessly added a newfound depth and nostalgic beauty to the experience.

Although The Cure had been absent from the live music scene for the past seven years, their triumphant return has proven that the wait was worthwhile. The band's performance reignited the passion of their loyal fan base, reminding them of the timeless appeal of their music. From the stage presence to the carefully curated setlist, The Cure delivered an unparalleled experience, cementing their status as one of the most iconic bands of our time.
